Epiphone’s first solid body electric guitar is back in the fan-favorite 60s-era configuration
Epiphone’s first solid body electric guitar was the Crestwood, a symmetrical double-cutaway model introduced in 1958, not long after Gibson purchased Epiphone. In 1959, the Crestwood was slightly modified with rounded body edges and a new pickguard and renamed the Crestwood Custom. Further changes to the model occurred by 1963, when Epiphone added a new batwing six-in-line headstock design and a somewhat reshaped body with an extended upper horn. While some players prefer the earlier versions with their beefier Medium C-shaped neck profiles, many others prefer the 60s-era Crestwood Customs for their improved balance, redesigned control layout, more effortless playability, and more modern aesthetic.
Now, Epiphone is proud to bring back the Crestwood Custom in all of its 60s-era glory with the new Crestwood Custom. It features an asymmetrical double-cutaway body crafted from solid mahogany paired with a glued-in mahogany neck. The 24.75” scale neck features a SlimTaper™ C profile that is fast-playing and comfortable. The neck is capped with a bound rosewood fretboard that has a 12” fretboard radius for easy chording and string bends. The fretboard is outfitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with oval pearloid inlays. The batwing headstock features a modern Graph Tech® nut for improved tuning stability, along with the Wilkinson® six-on-a-plate tuners. The other ends of the strings pass over a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge with full action and intonation adjustability, and anchor to a smooth-functioning Epiphone Tremotone vibrato tailpiece that offers expressive pitch modulation capabilities. The electronics include a pair of hum-free Epiphone ProBucker™ Mini Humbucker™ pickups that can play sweet and clean or mean and dirty. Each pickup is paired with individual volume and tone controls equipped with classic radio knobs, and you can select either pickup individually or use them both together with a flick of the three-way toggle switch. The Crestwood Custom comes with a gig bag and is ready to accompany you wherever your music takes you.
