Like all Unison preamps, the Apollo e1x enables real-time tracking through award-winning emulations of classic studio hardware. It also supports the Apollo’s Auto-Gain feature, which automatically sets levels across multiple inputs. Each Apollo x16D in your system supports up to 16 Apollo e1x preamps, and you can control each preamp’s gain, +48V phantom power, polarity reversal, and low cut remotely via UAD Console software. The Apollo e1x is compatible with any Dante audio network, offering straightforward routing through Dante Controller or UAD Console software. Additionally, the Apollo e1x supports PoE, requiring only a single Ethernet cable for operation. With the Apollo e1x remote-controllable preamp, your Apollo x16D audio interface, and Dante, you can bring the sound of API, Neve, Manley, SSL, and more to the stage, front of house, or your multiroom studio.
Unison and Auto-Gain: a perfect pairing
The Apollo e1x’s Unison preamp technology allows you to track in real-time through authentic emulations of classic gear from Neve, Manley, API, and many more, providing the same rich analog textures found on legendary recordings. Unison technology goes beyond traditional software modeling by adjusting the preamp circuit itself, including parameters like impedance and analog gain structure. When you adjust the Apollo e1x’s preamp gain via UAD Console software, the plug-in modifies the preamp’s behavior to match the target preamp. This means your microphone interacts with the Apollo e1x’s input just as it would with the modeled preamplifier rather than merely filtering the audio to mimic the character of a famous preamp. Additionally, the Apollo e1x supports the Apollo’s Auto-Gain feature, which can be applied to multiple channels simultaneously to ensure consistent levels across the board. The Universal Audio Apollo x16D features 16 channels of bidirectional Dante I/O, allowing you to add up to 16 Apollo e1x preamps for each Apollo x16D in your system. You can link up to four Apollo x16D interfaces, enabling you to add an impressive 64 remote-controllable preamps to your setup. Additionally, you can remotely control each preamp’s gain, +48V phantom power, polarity reversal, and low cut with straightforward routing using Dante Controller or UAD Console software. Here, we ran an array of Apollo e1x preamps through their paces in a networked multiroom setup with tremendous success.
