Godin Acoustics - Everything to know about their many brands

Who are Godin guitars?

Godin guitars were born in Quebec several decades ago. Many of our models are the hallmark of our quality craftsmanship. Even today, all Godin guitars are made in Quebec. Their expertise extends not only to electric guitars, but also to acoustics. It is important to note that all Godin models are not pale copies of other manufacturers, far from it. Every design they offer is a direct reflection of their ideology and innovation. In addition, the company has its own preamplifier, available in all of their models. And let's not forget to mention that (most of) the wood used is all local.

How do I navigate Godin?

The truth is that Godin can appear in many different guises. It is important to understand that you may come across several brands (Art & Lutherie, Seagull, Simon & Patrick, Norman and Godin) all under the same banner. What makes them different, you may ask? Let's just look at each company as a grade of quality and luxury moving up. Without compromising quality, the company offers us a vast selection of choices that range from something with rustic simplicity to advanced luxury components and aesthetics.

Art & Lutherie

Art & Lutherie is the entry level. Great instruments with simplicity. Take the Roadhouse for example. Small, compact, it's perfect for travelers or for younger players. Don't think it's any less resonant, it projects like no other! It's not the size that counts.

In another landscape, we have the Legacy (OM) and Americana (Dreadnought) models that offer us more classic choices in an affordable price range.

Seagull

Seagull guitars are of a higher grade and offer different models from a different manufacturing process. Among the most popular, we count the S6 model which suggests a warm and enveloping sound. These are real war machines. They are solid and ready to be taken on.

In Seagull's top grade, we have the Artist and SWS models which, despite some similarities, offer a solid wood composition and have aesthetic additions to make you drool. At this point, we have the appearance of Richlite composite, which provides a solid touch and is resistant to the extreme temperature changes in our neck of the woods.

Norman (it's tradition)

The Norman series is their version of the traditional models. Since 1972, these guitars have been coloring the music of Quebec. These guitars feature woods such as spruce, maple and rosewood. The fingerboard varies from one model to another between rosewood (model ST-50) and Richlite (model ST-50). We also have the appearance of the Mini-Jumbo shape which, without mentioning its incendiary "look", is a delight to hold. Do you want comfort? Here it is!

This series also offers classic and affordable models like the B20 (spruce and Canadian birch) as well as some aesthetic additions in finishes and inlays like the ST-50.

Godin from Godin!

The highest of the high end! A distinguished appearance and optimal sound. You should also know that at Godin (and its other brands), each cut shape is identified by names (ex: Imperial and Metropolis = Dreadnought, Fairmount = OMH etc). They are all made of solid wood (except for the Rialto). The concern for aesthetics is at its peak, brandishing a proud and unique head accompanied by beautiful inlays and more sophisticated open gear keys.

Of course, there are many more models available than those presented in this article. So go ahead! Be curious, explore and we are sure you will find something to your liking. Also, feel free to check out their electric guitar lines which are just as exciting.
